Hula Hoop

Dribbling and shooting weren't the only skills Carter learned while at basketball camp. Here he is practicing his hula hoop abilities. Thanks to Sheila and Whitney for hanging with Carter for the afternoon. I hope he didn't leave you with too many wounds from the epic foam sword battle.

Basketball Graduate

Here's Carter with his camp certificate and a basketball that he received at the end of camp. 13 more years and his jersey could be a real one! Athletic scholarship here we come!

Local Celebrities

On the last day of basketball camp, the kids were each given a camp t-shirt and a MSU basketball with which they had been practicing all week and the coaches and players signed both of them. Carter was thrilled since he is mesmerized by the players.

Here's Carter and one of his new friends (and, by the way, could they possibly look more alike? freaky) with head coach Billy Kennedy.

Here's Carter with assistant coach, Steve Prohm.

Not sure who this is...sorry, unnamed Murray State basketball player. But we do appreciate you (Granddaddy...help us out here)

Here's Carter with his favorite player of the week...Tony Easley. He's the one that gave Carter his nickname, "Baby Skin", because he was the smallest player on the skins team during a shirts/skins game. Actually, he wasn't even supposed to be out there playing the shirts/skins game. It was for the older, full-day camp kids but Carter got mixed into their group at the end of his half-day camp. So he played with them for a few minutes until they figured out the problem. During that game, he also got tripped up with some other kids and did a face plant on the floor and Tony was the one that helped him shake that off and act like a tough guy. So he'll be our new favorite player once the season rolls around (Carter always has one guy that he follows during the season).

Another unnamed player...but thanks for your contribution.

Carter had so much fun at camp and learned a great deal for never have even played the game before. He is already looking forward to next years' camp!

Pics from Basketball Camp

Thanks to Gigi, here are some pics from basketball camp. Here's some of Carter dribbling and shooting...watch out for his "triple threat" stance and his "fake shot". He got some pretty good moves during the week!

Cute Kids

Here are some pics of the kids before church last week. Thanks Gigi for their new outfits! They are so cute.

We are really missing Carter around our house. He has been at Murray State's basketball camp all week. He is having a great time but we are ready for him to come home...it's awfully low-key without him around.

Although we have been missing Carter, it's kind of nice that we've gotten to spend some one on one time with Sarah. With two kids running around, it's hard to get any quality time with either of them...you end up just putting out fires the whole time. So it's been fun to really get to see Sarah's personality when she's not just copying her brother. She is such a funny girl and a real chatterbox. Last night she said, "Where passy gone? There it is! I reach it." And in the car this morning she was looking at a book and started laughing. So I looked back and said, "What's funny?" She looked at me and said, "Book u'side down!" So I said, "Well turn it right side up." And she did.

I didn't realize she knew those words...reach and upside down. Amazing.

I've also noticed she has started to really play with her toys. This morning when I came in to get her out of bed she had taken the doll that she sleeps with, turned it face down on her pillow, covered it with one of her blankeys and was patting her on the back. I said, "Are you putting baby to sleep?" She smiled and nodded, then she turned the music on from her aquarium toy. What a good little Mommy.

Sarah Speak

Sarah was wandering around the kitchen the other night as I prepared dinner so I asked her to go call Daddy to supper. She walked around the corner and sweetly said, "Daaadee, suppiee." What a good helper. She likes to help set the table, too. When she does it we never know where we'll find our plates, napkins or "fwalks".

Later, at supper she dropped her fwalk and said, "Oh man!" And later when she threw, I mean, dropped some food on the floor she said, "Gosh!" As long as those are the only explitives out of her mouth, I guess we are doing good.

I think we are nearing the time to start weaning from the passy. That is if my blood pressure can take it. She does really well at school and only uses it at naptime but at home she wants to have it all the time. And when she can't have it...she questioningly says, "My passy gone. Passy, 'r you?" The other day she was looking for it and Daddy said to her, "Where's your passy?" To which she pointed to her hips and said, "In Mommy pocket." (Actually Mommy was hiding it behind her back as she was folding laundry on the floor but the pocket works) So I picked it up and Sarah laughed and said, "See! There it is!"

Nolensville Lawn Festival

We attended the annual Nolensville Lawn Festival on Saturday. Although, Daddy was unable to get any pics of the kids during the 5 minute parade (no, that is not an exaggeration), he did get a couple of the haul they came home with afterward. Pretty impressive for a parade consisting of every police car and firetruck in town...including the vehicle extrication truck, 5 horses, and 8 antique cars.
